Bean 34 weeks

Hello.

Bean weighed in for his/her 34 week scan this morning...or rather I got weighed. All tracking nicely. In a good position...for birth that is, not for my ribs.

James wasn't able to make it so I had to ask his one question for him..."Am I supposed to call the labour ward when Nic goes into labour or the obstetrician's office...or both?" - apparently the ward will ask him questions about me and instruct him as to when is the right time to drive me to the hospital. All I can say is good luck to whoever he talks to...first twinge and he is marching me to the car apparently! :-) A small part of me wants to tell him that the prenatal classes we attend over the next few weeks will teach him how to deliver just in case but that's probably too cruel. Ha.

Bean is particularly active if I have anything sweet or drink milk or if its 9-10pm. In fact the jabs have become so strong that they make me jump now. All good until I am in a work meeting!

Craving has moved on from strawberries to ice cubes. Probably because I have no room to fit anything into my stomach anymore. :-)

J and I are off to Canberra for a night this weekend for a change. And we had a busy weekend just gone seeing John Farnham in concert, swimming with friends, French dinner at Glebe and rugby final. We're both counting down the weeks before we are on leave!

6 ish weeks to go. Yipee.

Bean's 32 week scan

Had Bean's 32 week scan today. All is well. My tummy and bean's head measured exactly right for 32 weeks...the midwife showed me how much more my tummy would grow with a tape measure by 40 weeks...I think my response was "holy crap!"

Head is down which is good and Bean is facing to my right - same position as the last few weeks. Seems its favourite time of the day is 3.30am when it has a dance party and I'm invited...to stay wide awake...preparing me for teenage years no doubt. :-)

Watched a documentary on SBS last night called 'One born every minute' - quite interesting though a couple of the scenes made me cringe....James had to get up and have a bkie ride...said it stressed him out!

Looking forward to going for a walk tomorrow and keeping up the stretches regularly. Have started to realise that walking sideways through small spaces like train turntables is not a good idea and I didn't realise how narrow shower cubicle openings were until now! James is having to give me a push every time I lift myself out of a deep sofa...I think he is going to hire a forklift soon.

Latest craving is berries...particularly strawberries...fresh, in yoghurt, in a smoothie and probably on toast soon!

Really looking forward to Mum and Dad coming out...feeling like I would like to pop round to their houses for a cup of tea and chat today.

Here's to the weekend and hopefully some nice, sunny weather.

And the blogging has started!

Hi,

Being that we are only 8 weeks out from the expected arrival of Bean, I thought I should get my act together and enter this century and start a blog to keep you updated with our adventures. It will also come in handy when we are travelling around Europe next year.

I have my 32 week scan this Friday - Bean is getting much stronger giving determined kicks and purposeful movements at regular intervals. James seems to have the charmer touch and settles the movement down, I just seem to exacerbate...hmmm might be time for us to rethink who should be the primary carer!

I have just under 6 weeks left at work, giving myself a couple of weeks before the due date to try and not think about what is going to happen...looking forward to starting the pre-natal classes in November and having more of a clue...and seeing the emerging panic on James' face as it becomes more real!

We are both very excited about our Xmas 2011 present and the laughs and challenges ahead. Thanks to everyone for the advice so far.

Nic xx
